$308,573 Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Santa Monica

Surf Liquor on Main Street sold one of nine Mega Millions tickets in California with five of six matching numbers. Friday's jackpot grows to $476 million.

The Santa Monica corner store at Main Street and Ocean Park was one of just nine California locations to sell Mega Millions tickets valued at $308,573. They each sold tickets with five numbers in Tuesday night's drawing—but each missed the Mega number needed to clinch the $363 million jackpot.

The estimated jackpot for Friday's multi-state Mega Millions drawing will now grow to $476 million, the largest in the history of the game since it began in 1996.

Surf Liquor, which has been around longer than the lottery, sold one of 47 tickets nationwide with five numbers. The ones sold in California are each worth $308,573, while the other 38 are each worth $250,000, a California Lottery official announced.

Six were reportedly sold in Southern California.

The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 176 million.

The numbers drawn Tuesday night were 9, 19, 34, 44, 51 and the Mega number was 24.

The Mega Millions game is played in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
