A Rainy Weekend Ahead

Following a dry spell the past several weeks, grab an umbrella on Saturday when there's a 100 percent chance of showers.

A couple of storms will make for a wet and breezy start to the weekend.

National Weather Service meteorologists are forecasting showers Friday night into Saturday in Santa Monica, with most of the Southland likely to see totals up to three-quarters of an inch.

"Another weak weather system is forecast to impact Southwestern California Sunday night into Monday, with additional chances of showers across the region," Weather Service meteorologists said.

Meteorologists are forecasting just a 20 percent chance of rain on Sunday.

Temperatures will remain mild. Saturday's daytime high will be 61 degrees with a low of 45. East to southeast winds will blow 5 to 10 mph.

Any snowfall will likely only occur at the very highest peaks, generally above 9,000 feet.

The rain gauge at the Santa Monica Airport measured .74 inches when the last storm struck in mid December.
