Closed PCH Lanes to Open During 405 Closure

When a portion of the 405 Freeway shuts down from midnight on July 16 to 5 a.m. on July 18, a currently closed portion of Pacific Coast Highway will open. The city of Los Angeles announced Thursday that the closed southbound lane of PCH in Pacific Palisades from Temescal Canyon Road to Chautauqua Boulevard will open during the period dubbed "."

According to a press release from the city, the PCH lane will open shortly before the PCH closure begins. It will close again when the 405 reopens.

The PCH closure, which is expected to continue through mid-August, is due to the $10 million . This involves the installation of a 4,500-foot pipeline to run alongside the existing Coastal Interceptor Sewer.

"It will provide increased flow capacity from the eight newly completed Santa Monica Bay low flow diversions to the Hyperion Treatment Plant," a city of Los Angeles press release from May stated. "These infrastructure developments will keep urban runoff from flowing out into the ocean during year-round dry weather, helping the city of Los Angeles comply with water quality regulations."
