Public Meeting on New Frank Gehry Building Is Thursday

Have an opinion on the Frank Gehry designed building proposed at Ocean Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard?

A community meeting open to the public is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Santa Monica Library.

At the meeting, the property owner Jeff Worthe and Gehry, a renowned architect who lives in Santa Monica, will lead a presentation on the project. There will also be "plenty of time" for a Q&A, a spokeswoman said.

Dubbed the Ocean Avenue Project, the building would be 22 stories and 244 feet tall with 125 hotel rooms, 22 condominium units, ground-floor shops and restaurants, and an underground parking garage. The project has to be OK'd by the City Council before it can be built, and Thursday's meeting is one of the first steps in the review process.

It is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the main library's multipurpose room on the second floor. The library is at 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

A spokeswoman said there are limited seats. If there is overflow, residents can leave their names and contact information for a second meeting.
