  • Following the performance by another violin master (Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg) on Wednesday, the tonight hosts Joshua Bell, another classical-music icon. The winner of Grammy, Emmy and Oscar awards will start his sold-out performance at 7:30 p.m.

  • Actor Danny Trejo will be present at a silent auction to benefit the  that will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Young artists crafted the works that will be up for auction. In an addition to an appearance by the actor—who has appeared in everything from The Young and the Restless to From Dusk Till Dawn—the auction will also feature jazz performances, wine and food. Admission is $20, or $30 if you come with a companion.

Other Happenings

  • Head to the  for a screening of Even the Rain at 7:30 p.m. The low-budget film stars Gael García Bernal, who goes to Bolivia to make a movie about the conquest of Latin America. Tickets are $11, with discounts available.
  • Urban gardeners and farmers will reveal their methods of food-supply empowerment at a discussion to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the 's MLK Auditorium. The free event is part of the farmers markets' quarterly discussion series.
  • Today is the first day of the Fall Teen Performance Lab, which takes place at the through May 28. The workshop is geared toward young people ages 13 to 17, and finds them fleshing out their skills with theater professionals. It takes place from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
