George Lopez, Eva Longoria to Co-Host ALMA Awards Show in SM

The show tapes Sept. 10 and will be broadcast on TV on Sept. 16.

The and the Women's Image Network Awards aren't the only awards shows whose organizers have picked Santa Monica as their destination for this year. The 2011 Alma Awards will also be held here, at the on Sept. 10, it was announced Thursday.

The Alma Awards, which are presented by the National Council of La Raza, honor Latinos who have made significant contributions to American culture. George Lopez and Eva Longoria will co-host this year's show, which NBC will air on Sept. 16 at 8 p.m.

Actress/ teen-pop star Selena Gomez—who at —and singer Christina Aguilera have the most nominations at three apiece. Singer Jennifer Lopez and Glee actress Naya Rivera have two nods each.

Antonio Banderas, Michael Pena and Danny Trejo are up for Favorite Movie Actor; Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz and Rosario Dawson have been nominated for Favorite Movie Actress - Drama/Adventure; and Eva Mendes and Cameron Diaz, along with Gomez and Aguilera, are being considered in the Favorite Movie Actress - Comedy/Musical category.

Other nominees include singers Shakira, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin; and actors Oscar Nuñez (The Office), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Rico Rodriguez (Modern Family).
