Local Woman Arrested in Fatal 10 Fwy. Crash
The Santa Monica woman was driving an Audi when she rear-ended a big rig in the Jefferson Park area, killing her passenger, the California Highway Patrol reports.
A 21-year-old Santa Monica woman is suspected of felony drunken driving in a collision with a big rig that killed her female passenger early Tuesday morning in the Jefferson Park section of Los Angeles, City News Service reported.
Following the wreck, Molly Kate Adams was treated for moderate injuries and then arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the wire service reported.
The California Highway Patrol's preliminary investigation found Adams was driving a 2007 Audi when she rear-ended a big rig on the westbound 10 freeway east of Crenshaw Boulevard. Both women were trapped in the wreckage, according to CNS.

The big rig was being driven by a 38-year-old Chino man at about 55 miles per hour when it was rear-ended by the Audi, which "was traveling at a high rate of speed," the CHP reported.
"The Audi was then struck by a Scion as it remained disabled in the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of traffic," the CHP reported. "The two female occupants were trapped within the Audi, and had to be extricated by [the] Los Angeles Fire Department."
