UPDATED: Robbers Steal $1.5 Million Worth of Jewelry in Heist

Three gunmen staged the apparent robbery on Tuesday afternoon.

Three masked gunmen robbed a person of an estimated $1.5 million in jewelry in an apparent heist Tuesday afternoon in Santa Monica. At least one of the gunmen had a gun.

The robbery occurred in an alley near Wilshire Blvd. and 21st St. around 2:30 p.m. After approaching a person who was inside a red Prius, the gunmen smashed the vehicle's front windows, obtained the jewelry and fled in a silver or gray Nissan.

No injuries have been reported.
