Santa Monica Joins Pinterest

Convention & Visitors Bureau starts pinning pretty pictures of Santa Monica and announces online contest with a chance to win a free stay a local, luxury hotel.

The Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau is now on Pinterest.

The page debuted Wednesday morning with 10 virtual pin boards—featuring categories such as "The Free Things to Do," "The Fitness" and "The Nightlife"— and with a contest for one follower to win a three-night stay at , along with other prizes.

Pinterest is a social bookmarking site that lets users collect and share things they like on the web, and is predominately filled with pretty pictures of weddings and fashion, inspirational quotes, fitness tips, crafts and recipes.

Santa Monica's page launched with 107 images of the likes of women hula-hooping at , pictures of produce sold at local farmers' markets and scenes of the , and the .

  • Follow the official Santa Monica Pinterest page
  • Create a new Pinterest board titled "My Santa Monica PIN-spirations" under the category "Travel & Places" with 10 pins that showcase the Santa Monica lifestyle
  • The board must contain three pins from any of the Official Santa Monica Pinterest boards OR the Santa Monica destination website, SantaMonica.com. Photos pinned to your contest entry board must contain the hashtag #SMpinspiration.
