The Market at Santa Monica Place Sets Opening Date
Billed as an "artisanal food experience," The Market will open in May.
A date has been set for the opening of The Market on the third level of , it was announced Wednesday.
The Market, which is being billed as an "artisanal food experience," will open May 20. It will feature an array of organic, sustainable and gourmet foods; as well as merchandise, flowers and gifts. Participants will include The Curious Palate, The Gourmandise School of Sweets and Savories and Community Kitchen, Kings Road, L'Artisan du Chocolat, N'Ice Cream, Rockenwagner Bakery, and Venokado. More purveyors are expected to be added.
The vice president of leasing for Macerich, Santa Monica Place's parent company, released a statement about the news.

"We first announced The Market about a year ago, and ever since we continue to hear how people look forward to this new concept," Michael Guerin said. "There is real local demand to be able to pick up terrific organic, gourmet food items in the same location they already are visiting for wonderful meals on the Dining Deck.
"We would love to hear from local entrepreneurs who want to be part of our groundbreaking new concept," he added.

The refurbished mall reopened on August 6.
