Third Robbery Suspect Arrested in Santa Monica

Donya Shannon Conner was taken into custody after a Santa Monica resident reported a stolen bicycle.

The final of three suspects was taken into custody Monday following an hours-long man hunt stemming from an armed robbery in Santa Monica.

Donya Shannon Conner was taken into custody about 7 a.m. Monday after a Santa Monica resident reported that a man had just stolen his bicycle from his backyard and was fleeing westbound on Warwick, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

Officers found the stolen bicycle in the parking lot of McDonalds located at 2902 Pico Boulevard, and found Conner in the men's restroom, Lewis said.

Investigators believed Conner was involved the robbery, but he initially denied it, according to Lewis.

"It took some time to find out," Lewis said. " ... We believed he may have been the third suspect in this case, but he was not cooperating and investigators needed some time to tie him to the other two suspects and the crime itself."

Terrell Darveyon Davis, 24, and Delina Frank Banks, 24, both of Reno, Nevada, were arrested Sunday night on suspicion of the robbery. They were being held in lieu of $1 million bail on robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy charges, according to jail records and police.

Three men walked into the Tala Jewelry at 1302 Montana Ave. at 4:52 p.m. Sunday and held up the store staff, used sledge hammers to get into display cases, then fled in a car, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

Witnesses told investigators the men used at least one handgun to enter the store.

Responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle in the east end of the city limits, near Centinela and Delaware. However, the vehicle made a quick turn and all three suspects fled on foot in the 3300 block of Exposition, Lewis said.

After quickly setting up a perimeter, the first suspect was found by a K9 search team at 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Centinela. The second suspect was found about an hour later in the same area, he said.
