With ease, Heal the Bay staffers carried a whale across parking lots and the sand on Monday afternoon.
The 20-foot paper mache craft was donated to Heal the Bay, but staffers couldn't squeeze it through the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium's doors, where it was to be displayed. Lifting it above their heads like a surfboard, they walked it from the pier to the sand to pose for a group photo.
If you'd like to adopt the whale (no re-homing fee and no shots required), contact Heal the Bay.
