A Whale Out of Water

Big paper mache whale proves to be a good prop, but not display.

With ease, Heal the Bay staffers carried a whale across parking lots and the sand on Monday afternoon.

The 20-foot paper mache craft was donated to Heal the Bay, but staffers couldn't squeeze it through the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium's doors, where it was to be displayed. Lifting it above their heads like a surfboard, they walked it from the pier to the sand to pose for a group photo.

If you'd like to adopt the whale (no re-homing fee and no shots required), contact Heal the Bay.

There must be another indoor spot this city can find for this- ask the developers if they can make one for it-

it's pretty easy to cut this in half and bring it in the structure- then fix it with some more paper and solvent- one of the good things about paper mache- why don't they try this? no need to let this wonderful gift go to waste.
