Annual "Fight for Air Walk" to Take Place in Santa Monica

The walk route will begin and end downtown.

The annual "Fight for Air Walk" is scheduled to take place this month.

The event, which is sponsored by the American Lung Association, features a two-and-a-half mile route that will start and end at the Third Street Promenade.

Many of the participants in the walk have been impacted by lung disease, according to organizers.

This year's event chair is Dr. Sonal Patel, a physician who specializes in allergy medicine.

Lung disease is prevalent in California since more than 90 percent of all Californians live in areas with unhealthy air, according to the American Lung Association.

Online registration for the "Fight For Air Walk" is open now and is scheduled to end on Saturday, October 19.

The walk is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 20.
