Revel in Local Holiday Festivities Saturday

Santa will lead holiday revelers from a tree lighting at the California Heritage Museum to the Edgemar Courtyard, where more than 20 businesses are hosting holiday parties and sidewalk sales.

Santa Monica's historic Main Street will transform into a holiday wonderland Saturday.

Festivities for the community's annual tree lighting begin at 6 p.m. at the lawn at 2612 Main Street (just south of Ocean Park Blvd.)

Santa will be at the museum lawn at an hour prior to pose for photos with children. It’s free, just bring a camera. Then the jolly man in red will lead a candlelight walk to Edgemar Courtyard, where a different kind of tree awaits: the iconic Shopping Cart Tree.

Once there, revelers will be entertained by the Off Their Jingle Bell Rockers. Afterwards meander down Main Street, view decorations and enjoy holiday parties at more than 30 Main Street businesses.

The parties and street caroling by the Samohi Choir and the Off Their Jingle Bell Rockers will begin shortly after 6 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.

In that time, vote on your favorite window and/or interior decorations at participating shops. Ballots double as a raffle entry for a chance to win a prize from a Main Street business. Voting will take place between until 9 p.m.

More than 20 businesses are also participating in a weekend-long sidewalk sale in conjunction with the holiday event. The sales will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (See a full list of participating shops here)
