"Buy Local Expo and Festival" Aims to Offer Something for Everyone

Local restaurants and businesses are preparing for the annual event.

It is time for Santa Monica's annual "Buy Local Expo and Festival."

The emphasis this year is on five ways to "Eat Local, Shop Local, Live and Stay Local and Play Local."

Local restaurants, including The Lobster and Del Frisco's Grille and Seasons 52, will offer free cooking demos.

There will also be free yoga and dance classes, food samples and live entertainment from local musicians.

The event will take place on the Third Street Promenade from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

It will kick off "Buy Local Week" which is scheduled to take place from Sept. 21 through Sept. 28.

As part of the event, the Santa Monica Bike Center will provide free bike valet for two hours and $1 for each additional hour.

The event is being sponsored by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, the City of Santa Monica and Downtown Santa Monica in partnership with the Buy Local Santa Monica Committee and the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation.
