Carolers, Acrobats to Join Santa Claus at Mall Tree Lighting

Santa Monica Place festivities start 5:30 p.m. Saturday with performances by season 8 American Idol contestant Ann Marie Boskovich and girl group Cimorelli.

Escorted by Santa Monica police on mounted horse patrol, acrobats, trumpeters and holiday carolers, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will scoot down the Third Street Promenade Saturday in a vintage fire truck ahead of downtown's tree lighting.

The mall is staging the first of Santa Monica's holiday tree lightings.

Santa's flashy procession down the Promenade starts at 5:30 p.m. at Wilshire Boulevard. The tree lighting ceremony is at 6 p.m.
