Nativity Scene Opening

Each Christmas season at , 14 booths line Ocean Ave. with life-size scenes depicting events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.

The annual Santa Monica Nativity Scenes display is a community tradition that dates back to 1953. It runs from the second Sunday in December through the end of the year.

The committee–which consists of 13 churches and the Santa Monica Police Officers Association–and its representatives invite you to visit the Nativity Scenes in person.

The opening ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 12. It will begin with a caroling procession at Broadway and Third St. at 2 p.m. and also include a presentation of the story of Christmas. The official ceremony starts at 4 p.m. at Ocean Ave. near Arizona Ave.

The scenes will be available for public viewing until the end of the year.
