High Surf Advisory Issued for Santa Monica

Big waves are expected to hit Santa Monica Beach.

High surf will slam Santa Monica this week, accompanied by dangerous rip currents, according to the National Weather Service forecasters.

A high surf advisory will be in effect in Santa Monica through 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The surf is expected to reach six to eight feet, with choppy wave conditions from strong winds, forecasters warned.

The larger breakers and a high risk of rip currents will make swimming dangerous.
