How Hard Were Winds Blowing in Santa Monica?

The storm that settled in over the Los Angeles area earlier this week dropped about half an inch of rain over parts of Santa Monica as wind speeds reached 31 miles per hour.

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports 0.49 inches of rain were recorded at Santa Monica Airport. A quarter of an inch of rainfall was recorded at the Santa Monica Pier.

This December has seen less rain than an average December in Santa Monica, according to the weather service. In Santa Monica, average rainfall for December is 1.88 inches. So far this month, 0.58 inches has been recorded.

Chilly winds accompanied the rain. The peak wind gust in Santa Monica as of Tuesday night clocked in at 31 miles per hour.
