It's More Like Earth Week at Santa Monica College

The SMC community will celebrate Earth Week from April 22-26.

Santa Monica College will celebrate Earth Day with an entire week of activities, including a honey bee festival.

Earth Week at SMC is set for April 22-26, according to a poster promoting the free events.

A honey bee celebration day will kick things off at 3 p.m. Monday, April 22 with an interactive exhibit demonstrating how bee farmers harvest honey in the Organic Learning Garden.

A screening of the film "Queen of the Sun," which is about the disappearance of bees, is set for 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 22 in the Humanities & Social Science Building Room 104

Free bike registration is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at the SMC Bike Park on Pearl Street between 17th and 20th streets.

The campus will also offer tours of its most sustainable facility at the SMC Center for Environmental & Urban Studies House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday April 24.

The Santa Monica College EcoAction Club will host a campuswide exchange of clothing, electronics and other items in the main campus quad from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25. 

A screening of "Urbanized" is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25 and will feature bike giveaways at the Center for Environmental & Urban Studies House.

In the only off-campus event, the Santa Monica College community will take part in the cleanup of Santa Monica Beach from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 26. Volunteers plan to meet at Lifeguard Tower 18.
