Lincoln Blvd. to Close Next Week; Here's How to Get Around

If the congestion caused by construction of a storm drain along Pacific Coast Highway wasn't enough of a snag on traffic in Santa Monica, don't forget that Lincoln Boulevard at Colorado Avenue will be fully closed next week, too.

Here's the word and some travel tips from the Expo Line Construction Authority, which is installing a rail crossing.

Lincoln Boulevard
Northbound Lincoln Boulevard will be temporarily closed at Colorado Avenue., and traffic will be detoured at Olympic. Turns onto Colorado will be prohibited. Take 11th Street as an alternate.

Southbound Lincoln will be temporarily closed at Colorado, and traffic will be detoured at Santa Monica Boulevard. Turns onto Colorado will be prohibited. Take 11th Street as an alternate.

Colorado Avenue
Colorado will be temporarily closed to through traffic between 7th and 9th streets but will remain open for local access. Turns from Colorado onto Lincoln will be prohibited.

Eastbound Colorado will be detoured at 7th Street and westbound Colorado will be detoured at 11th Street. Take Santa Monica Boulevard as an alternate.

I-10 Freeway
The Lincoln Boulevard exit will remain open. However, motorists are encouraged to use Cloverfield as an alternate exit route.

Local/Pedestrians
Local and pedestrian access around the closure areas will be maintained at all times. Electronic message boards, directional signage, and flaggers will be used to direct vehicles and pedestrians around the construction zone.

Closures will start April 21 and last through April 28.
