Must-Do Events in Santa Monica This Week

Donate books for a good cause, walk off your Thanksgiving dinner and catch a performance of Hamlet at The Broad this week in Santa Monica.

1.  FOURTH ANNUAL "GOBBLE WOBBLE"
Where/When: Emerson Reed Park; 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday
Why go:  Grab the whole clan to sweat off those extra helpings of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie at this fun-filled event. There will be a 5K walk (and a 1K walk for the wee ones), costume contests, balloon animals, face painting, and more.

2. BOOK DRIVE TO BENEFIT UPWARD BOUND HOUSE
Where/When: California Pizza Kitchen; all day Tuesday and Wednesday
Why go: Children’s book author Megan Worthy and her daughter, Bronte, are collecting books for Santa Monica-based Upward Bound House, which provides transitional housing for homeless families. Guests who donate a book will receive a free “small plate” food item with a $15 purchase.

3.  HAMLET AT THE BROAD
Where/When: The Broad Stage; 7:30 p.m. Monday, Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
