New Bike Center Offers Local Employees Bikes for Use

According to city official Lucy Dyke, among the many amenities at the new Bike Center, which opened last week, employees in the Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. district will be able to borrow bikes.

When the Santa Monica Bike Center opened on November 18, among the shower facilities, lockers and rental bikes available to members and visitors, there will be a small collection of bikes available to employees in the Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. district to "borrow."

According to Lucy Dyke, Deputy Director for Special Projects for the city, employees will be able to sign up to borrow a bike to run an errand or just get some exercise on a break.

"We're making some bikes available," Dyke said. "You can sign up for them."
