Online registration opened 9 a.m. Monday for the 2013 LA Marathon, with race officials anticipating an early sellout.

The cost is $145. The price will increase Nov. 1 (there's no word yet by how much) if the race has not reached its capacity.

"We’re beginning to see the kind of pre-registration demand experienced by only a select few races around the world," Chief Operating Officer Nick Curl said in a statement.

The 2013 LA Marathon on March 17 will be the fourth running of the Stadium to the Sea course. It sold out for the first time, four days ahead of race-day, in 2010.

The scenic 26-mile, 385-yard race starts at Dodger Stadium and bypasses some of the area's most prominent landmarks before ending just north of the Santa Monica Pier. Along the way, runners will pass the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Pantages Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive and Palisades Park.

Returning this year is the marathon's "I Run 4 Somthing" charity campaign. Last year, participants raised about $3 million for more than 70 causes. The charity relay that debuted last year will also return, allowing two people to team up to each run half of the distance.
