'Rubicon' Star, Santa Monica Resident Christopher Evan Welch Dies.

The actor was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 48.

Well-known film, television and theater actor Christopher Evan Welch has died in Santa Monica, his family said, according to the Associated Press. He was 48.

He died on Dec. 2 according to his family’s statement released Wednesday, the AP said. He was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Welch was born in Dallas and received an Obie Ward in 2000 for “A Streetcar Named Desired.” He also known to TV viewers for his roles on AMC’s “Rubicon,” The Sopranos” and “The Good  Wife.”

Welch also played a congressional clerk in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” released last year.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, their daughter June Harper, his parents, a brother and a sister, according to the AP.
