Santa Ana Winds to Bring 'Extreme Fire Danger' to Santa Monica Mountains

Northeast winds from 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected, forecasters warned.

A red flag warning and a high wind watch will go into effect starting Thursday due to expected Santa Ana winds in the Santa Monica Mountains.

The fire weather conditions are expected Thursday evening through Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service. 

Northeast winds from 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected, forecasters warned. 

The winds will increase Thursday night and peak midday Friday before dying down on Saturday night, the NWS reported.

Humidity in the mid-teens to single digits are in the forecast for Friday and single digits Saturday.

Temperatures will be in the 70s at the beach and into the mid 80s in the Santa Monica Mountains.
