State Assembly Candidate in Favor of Closing Santa Monica Airport

The former Culver City mayor cites health concerns as the reason he supports the closure.

Former Culver City Mayor Christopher Armenta, who is running for the 54th Assembly District seat, said he would support the efforts to close Santa Monica Airport, the Santa Monica Lookout reports.

Armenta told the Lookout that he supports closing the 97-year-old airport and turning the 227 acres city-owned land into a neighborhood park because of pollution concerns.

Armenta is one of three candidates running for the assembly seat.
