By City News Service

Strong winds are sweeping much of the Southland this morning. A wind advisory will be in force until noon in the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains as well as the Santa Clarita Valley.

In the mountains, the wind is blowing at between 20 and 30 miles per hour and gusting at 45 and 50 miles per hour. In the Santa Clarita Valley, wind speeds of between 15 and 25 miles per hour are being reported, along with gusts of 35 and 40 miles per hour.

Forecasters say that until the wind dies down early this afternoon, it could create challenging driving conditions on Interstate 5 and the Antelope Valley Freeway.
