Excellent choses for nominations! I think it's awesome when great actors have a chance to show off their wonderful talents. Sometimes their talents make a good movie ....a great movie! Bravo!

How are these films "independents" when they all have A-list stars attached, and studios behind them? How about honoring real independents.

It doesnt matter if they are Alist stars or Blist stars or unknowns. If the star agrees to do the movie and their terms are reasonable then we sign them up.Wouldnt you agree if you were an unknown and a Alist star was in a movie with you it would help to open more doors for you down the road? That's assuming if you really was talented.

An independent film means made outside the studio system. These are independently financed. They go to the studios to distribute them only. Getting a film independently financed means everybody works cheap to make it happen, including the stars.

Where are the standards listed for calling a film an independent, Sue?
