Following on the success of 2007’s ELITE SQUAD, director Jose Padilha returns with this breathlessly gripping sequel. Lieutenant Colonel Nascimento (Wagner Moura), formerly a special operations captain, is now a high-ranking official, but he and his second-in-command, Captain Andre Matias (Andre Ramiro), are accused by human rights activists of prisoner execution. Thus begins a bloody political dispute spanning years, involving everyone from government officials to paramilitary groups and criminal kingpins in the Rio de Janeiro slums.
