"12 Miles North" is about a young African American surfer named Nick Gabaldon who provided inspiration in a time of intense segregation in surfing and beyond. In the 1940s, The Inkwell was the only place on the Westside of Los Angeles where people of color could congregate comfortably and enjoy a day at the beach. One day Nick borrowed a lifeguard's paddleboard and took to the surf. He eventually paddled the 12 miles from the Inkwell to Malibu breaks. On June 6, 1951 Nick drowned in a surfing accident at Malibu, but his undying passion is an inspiration to anyone who has ever had the courage to dream. The waves of Mother Nature belong to all of us, and so does the memory of Nick.

'Come Hell or High Water' is surfer Keith Malloy's (Woodshed films) movie about his passion for bodysurfing: "It's about
taking a breath, and kicking your feet, in the big blue sea. The humble perspective of bodysurfers reminds us all that
sometimes we just have to get in the water and enjoy ourselves rather than always be striving for the perfect wave.
This is not to be missed.
