Papel picado workshop

Learn the craft of papel picado, a paper cutting technique used to create Mexican folk art, during a workshop at Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. Former Aquarium staff member and artist Julie Naylor will present a brief history of the cut paper art form and demonstrate some basic paper cutting techniques. Participants will be invited to help create the colorful decorations to adorn the Aquarium in preparation for the annual Fishy Fest celebration of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos scheduled for Oct. 27 & 28.  


Please bring a pair of sharp pointed scissors if possible; tissue paper will be provided.  Due to the nature of the craft, this evening is designed for an adult and teenage audience. RSVPs are required at:
