Why Go: Animation? Check. Culture? Check. Humor? Check. Popcorn? Check. The sixth annual Children’s Film Festival has got it all. The noon screening of animated short films from around the world is geared toward movie lovers (and movie-lovers-to-be) of all ages!

• TOOT YOUR OWN HORN

Where/When: Skirball Cultural Center, Mar. 27 at 1 p.m.

Why Go: Let music educator Craig Woodsen teach your family about different types of musical instruments while you and your clan fashion instruments out of recycled materials. Then stay to jam and groove!

Why Go: Twinkle, twinkle—oh, that is so for the little ones! Your 5- to 9-year-old will appreciate the star-centered folk tales and craft projects that are designed just for them!

• COLOR ME MINE

Where/When: Color Me Mine, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: With just one purchase, your kids can paint free all day. As many colors as their little hearts fancy can be slathered on that lovely platter/ vase/ piggy bank for grandma.
