Santa Monica Poker Player Joins Latest 'Survivor' Cast

Garrett Adelstein will appear on the 28th season of the CBS show which premieres Feb. 26.

A professional poker player from Santa Monica will be among the 18 castaways for the 28th season of “Survivor,” CBS announced today.

The season, which will begin with a two-hour episode Feb. 26, will be themed “Brawn vs. Brains Vs. Beauty.”

Santa Monica poker player Garret Adelstein, 27, will be part of the Brains Tribe.

 On his CBS “Survivor” profile page, Adelstein stated, “Dedicated 2,000 hours in preparing for the strategic, social and physical elements of Survivor. “Did everything from 50 hours of yoga, to over-analyzing every episode, to mastering slide puzzles to ready myself. I essentially devoted my entire life to preparing for this adventure for the previous six months.”

According to the online poker database  HendonMob, Adelstein has already earned $122,766 in lifetime tournament winnings.
