'Spider-Man' Producer Dies in Santa Monica

Laura Ziskin had been battling breast cancer.

Laura Ziskin, a Hollywood producer whose credits included Pretty Woman and Spider-Man, died in her Santa Monica home Sunday. She was 61.

Ziskin had been battling breast cancer over the past seven years. Recently, she had been working on a reboot of The Amazing Spider-Man, due in theaters next year.

In addition to producing the recent Spider-Man movies, she was also the only executive producer behind Pretty Woman. She produced As Good as It Gets, Hero and What About Bob? as well.

Along with Katie Couric and others, Ziskin founded the research initiative Stand Up to Cancer in 2008.

A memorial for Ziskin is planned, but details have not yet been made known. Her family is asking that donations be made to Stand Up to Cancer through its website.
