Westside Theater Festival Coming to Santa Monica

WaveFest will include plays that explore stories of the Westside and Southern California.

Santa Monica Repertory Theater, the critically acclaimed Westside theater company, will launch its first theater festival, WaveFest, on Sept. 7.

The festival is set to run from Sept. 7 through Oct. 13 at the Church in Ocean Park. 
WaveFest, which will be centered on the theme “Go West,” will be comprised of three “waves” of short plays over six weekends. The festival will explore stories from the Westside and Southern California.

Plays will include pieces by contemporary Los Angeles and Santa Monica playwrights, including Bertolt Brecht and Raymond Chandler. 

The plays will be interspersed with other live entertainment including music, poetry and dance. 

WaveFest will be performed according to the following schedule: 

Wave 1: Saturdays and Sundays 9/7 & 8 and 9/14 &15.
Wave 2: Saturday and Sunday 9/21 &22 and 9/28 & 29.
Wave 3: Friday and Sunday 10/4 & 6; Saturday and Sunday 10/12 & 13. 

Performance times are: Saturdays at 7pm and 9pm; Sundays at 7pm; Friday, October 4 at 7pm and 9pm.
