This first week of 2013 brings changes in the local business scene around Laguna Niguel.
Headed our way is a new bike store, Jax Bicycle Center, in the former Blockbuster video in the Laguna Niguel Marketplace. A large sign on the window shop states it will open in February and was established in 1971.
Other changes include newcomer which opened in the fall in Plaza De La Laz. The eatery has a new owner, Centerbridge, a private equity company, which bought the P.F. Chang's chain including Pei Wei, according to Gerry Flanigan, vice president of real estate with the Horowitz Group, which owns the center
In the same plaza, after much delay the Veggie Grill appears to have started construction right next door to Pei Wei as a large dumpster has been stationed beside the space.
a family-owned business in Laguna Niguel that closed its doors in 2011. The 6,500 square-foot eatery had served upscale meals to diners since 2008 was gutted to make way for two new restaurants,
Another restaurant that has applied for change of ownership is Good Sushi next to Albertsons on Golden Lantern.
In Dana Point, retailer Sea Styles, shut its doors in December after 21 years of business among the Marina Village harbor shops. It chose not to renew its lease, according to a sign posted on the door by the landlord. Expect a new tenant some time in the future, the sign adds.
