Amazon will hold a press conference at the in Santa Monica next month, the company announced to media Thursday, inciting speculation about the unveiling of a new Kindle.
USA Today reports:
The session is in the Los Angeles area, home to the entertainment industry. Most Kindle introductions have been in New York in the past—home to the publishing industry. So odds would say this new device would be very entertainment focused.
The online retailer divulged very few details in its invitation to journalists on Thursday. The invite merely states the news conference will be at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Barkar Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport.
Of the news, nextweb.com speculated:
Could it be the new Kindle Fire? Maybe, but stay tuned. Rumors are also swirling that Amazon is already building a smartphone with Foxconn, so it could be that or both.
The 35,000 square-foot hangar is known as one of Southern California's premier venues for charity, corporate and private events as well as video and film shoots.
