Fast Food Asian Coming to Promenade

Prominent Third Street Promenade corner to get new restaurant called "Nice Rice."

From Mexican to Asian, La Salsa, an Irvine-based taqueria franchise, has closed on the Third Street Promenade and will be replaced with a new fast food Asian restaurant.

An application on file with the city's planning department to renovate the building's facade shows the new joint will be called "Nice Rice."

The applicant, architect Andrew Lindsey of LAND, is seeking a remodel with new stucco, paint, doors, window, lighting and awning. He described the new look as "modern" and "clean," and a "black box primarily lit from within."
