Pacific Park Ferris Wheel to Salute Military for Memorial Day

From sunset to midnight, the wheel will feature red, white and blue colors and patterns.

After for Earth Hour, for Earth Day and with a free ride for Mother's Day, the Ferris wheel at is celebrating Memorial Day on Monday night with a salute to the troops.

From sunset to midnight, the wheel will feature red, white and blue colors and patterns, in remembrance of soldiers who have died.

Other Memorial Day celebrations in Santa Monica included held at Woodlawn Cemetery. The event featured music, two military flyovers and a keynote speech by an Air Force officer.

The Pacific Wheel is the only solar-powered Ferris wheel in the world and has 160,000 energy-efficient LED lights. The environmentally friendly amusement attraction saves more than 75 percent more energy than traditional Ferris wheels that use incandescent bulbs.
