BALLROOM BY THE BAY

Why go: You’ll feel like an extra from Dirty Dancing when you brush up on basic dance moves. Dancers with all levels of experience can fine-tune their cha cha, tango, waltz, and swing!

'HOORAY FOR EARTH DAY' PUPPET SHOW

Why go: Give your kids a chance to feel some love for our planet with this interactive puppet show devoted to all things nature. After the show, your kid aged 4 and up will get a chance to decorate reusable tote bags for local stores!

TAX DAY PROTEST
Where/When: 2501 Colorado; 11 a.m. Tuesday
Why go: Santa Monica will be the setting for one of hundreds of coordinated protests across the nation calling on higher taxes on the "1 percent."

SANTA MONICA-MALIBU UNIFIED BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Where/When: ; 6 p.m. Thursday
Why go: The Board of Education will meet to finalize the tasks of the Intercultural Equity and Excellence District Advisory Committee, formed in November to close the achievement gap and to help parents and students communicate with the board.
