Visitors Bureau Honored for Excellence—Again

The Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau is named the best destination-marketing organization in Southern California.

The has earned another prestigious honor, the organization announced Thursday.

The SMCVB is the best destination-marketing organization in Southern California for areas with fewer than 100,000 residents, according to the readers of California Meetings + Events Magazine. As of 2010, the city of Santa Monica had 89,736 residents, according to the latest census figures

At the magazine's recent 2011 Readers Choice Best Of ceremony in San Diego, the SMCVB—which provides tourists and residents with information about Santa Monica—received a related award.

"We're thrilled to receive this recognition from the meetings and events industry, which is comprised of our valued clients, colleagues and partners," SMCVB President/CEO Misti Kerns said in a statement. "We look forward to celebrating this award with our local community because it is only through collaboration with our board of directors, hospitality industry, city and many other local partners that we are able to serve our clients and promote Santa Monica as the premiere beach destination that it is."

In July, the SMCVB earned accreditation from Destination Marketing Association International, a worldwide destination-marketing group. The group's Destination Marketing Accreditation Program highlights destination-marketing organizations that meet or exceed standards in the industry.
