The Boys Club on Lincoln Bl. in Santa Monica, held their annual breakfast on Sat. Sept. 24th. from 7am to 11:00 am at the outdoor play area. Although it was an overcast morning the weather was mild which helped to make it into a good turnout for a very worthwhile cause.
For an unheard of price of only $3. a full breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage were served and it was open to all. Added to that were orange juice, coffee, and a chance to win a prize with a ticket included into the meal price.
Parking on Lincoln was readily available to those that needed it, with bicycle parking also available, and I noticed many people walking to the place from nearby residences.
Several club youngsters were on hand to help those with more food or drinks if they desired it, and they recycled empty plates and cutlery to keep the place clean.
Cooking, serving and acting as hosts were several former retired eminent Santa Monicans from the SMPD, from the banking community and former columnists from the Evening Outlook now closed.
I did see several city employees there on their break times having breakfast for a good cause.I have attended these functions for many years and I plan to continue doing so in the future, and I highly recommend it!
