Santa Ana winds will blow up to 30 mph in Santa Monica, where daytime highs will be in the 70s through the weekend.

A high pressure system was expected to build over night, producing Santa Ana winds across much of Los Angeles County.

It will be breezy in Santa Monica with gusts up to 30 mph. Daytime highs will be in the low to mid 70s through the weekend, with lows in the upper 40s and low 50s, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

Stronger winds are forecast in the valley and the Malibu coastline, where advisories are in effect until 3 p.m.

Though winds are expected to subside by Friday afternoon, they are likely to return again Saturday morning.

In the valleys and passes, the strong winds could make driving diffcult, the Weather Service warned.
