More than 1,600 residents lose power Thursday morning.

On Thursday morning, another power outage occurred in Santa Monica, with 1,677 residents losing electricity from 3:18 to 6:41 a.m. The outage was due to equipment failure, according to a representative from Southern California Edison.

The outage affected residents located between Colorado Avenue to the north, Pico Boulevard to the south, Fifth Street to the west and 14th Street to the east, according to Edison media department representative Lauren Bartlett.

However, additional customers outside those boundaries also lost power, Santa Monica Patch has learned. Bartlett said Edison was not aware of the additional residents affected by the outage.
