The Main Event

  • The Airport Commission holds its Annual Noise Report Workshop at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at . On the agenda are presentations of the 2010 Annual Noise & Operations Report, the Review of ’s Noise Abatement Program and the 2010 Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory Noise Contours. A public Q&A session will take place at the end of the workshop. Noise at SMO has been a hot topic as of late, after the Los Angeles City Council recently Councilman Bill Rosendahl's resolution to lower the amount of noise and pollution stemming from the airport.

  • High school leaders in Santa Monica are invited to gather at the for the latest meeting of the Teen Advisory Council. The discussion runs from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Children's Activity Room.

Other Happenings

  • Need a laugh? presents a pair of improv shows this evening. "Truck on a Triangle" and "The Draft," both half-hour sets, run from 10 to 11 p.m. No worry if you're low on cash; both shows are free.
  • The uncorks its new wine-tasting series, "Intro to Italy," at 7:30 p.m. The hosts will pour a series of wines from various locations in Italy: Grillo & Nero d’Avola (Sicilia); Calabria (Cirò, Lamezia); and Metiusco Rosato, Salento Rossi, Primitivo and Aleatico Dolce (Puglia). The cost for "Intro to Italy Part One: The Sunny South" is $35.
  • Nothing Bundt Cakes starts its weeklong Random Acts of Cakeness extravaganza today. In honor of Administrative Professionals Week, 100 people working in Santa Monica are due to receive a free cake, after being nominated by their co-workers. They'll also get another free cake over the course of the year.

  • On Apr. 25, 2009, actresses Kirsten Dunst and Kristen Bell marched in front of City Hall in support of Invisible Children, a movement that is working to stop the abduction of Ugandan children for use as child soldiers.
