  • If you're a teen who's interested in pursuing a career in the food industry, you won't want to miss a related panel happening today at the . "So You Want To ... Work With Food," which is co-sponsored by the Teen Center, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor.

  • Meanwhile, at another local library, aspiring actors can get some food for thought at a workshop led by director Adam Collis (Sunset Strip). At the workshop—which will go on from 6 to 8:45 p.m. at the —participants will do on-camera cold readings, learn tips for auditions and get a DVD of their workshop performance.

Other Happenings

  • Also at the Montana Avenue Branch, from 2 to 4 p.m., the library's "Classic Film and Discussion Series" continues with a viewing of one of the best-regarded movies of all time, Casablanca. Film scholar Vivian Rosenberg will talk about the movie after the free screening.
  • The Main Library must be jealous of the aforementioned series, because starting today, it's launching its own similar program. A movie will be shown in the library's MLK Auditorium on the afternoon of the first Monday of every month. First up is the iconic Mel Brooks comedy Blazing Saddles; it will be screened from 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Musicians from Vermont's Marlboro Music Festival—which Time magazine has called "the most exciting chamber music" in the U.S.—will introduce themselves to Santa Monicans with a performance of Janacek, Mozart and Mendelssohn compositions at . The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets range from $45 to $95.
