Apr. 6: Planning Commission Gearing Up for Bike Action Plan Discussion

The Main Event

  • The Bike Action Plan will be the focus of tonight's Planning Commission meeting, with members discussing its initial projects and programs. At a subsequent public workshop, the commission will consider the actual draft of the plan. The Runner-Up

  • The Jazz Combo will perform a song at the beginning of tonight's School Board meeting, which will also include discussion about this year's Stairway to the Stars program. The band will also show off the trophies it won last month at the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival in Boston. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the .

Other Happenings

  • It's the springtime, which means warmer temperatures, blossoming flowers—and allergies. If you're susceptible to the latter, check out the allergy discussion taking place at the Santa Monica Family YMCA. The free event will run from 6 to 7 p.m. and be led by the Exceptional Wellness Center's Gloria Phillips, D.C.
  • The Annenberg Community Beach House will host its monthly Holistic Health Retreat today from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Garden Terrace Room. The series is led by Dianne Porchia MA, and features a new theme and guest teachers each month.

Thank you Marilyn Wexler. I totally agree with all that you have said in this eloquent letter. SMPDRead More have done well in DUI checkpoints for the past few years and they are appreciated for doing so. We are all better off for their efforts!

I left Santa Monica in 1987. I went to Samohi and Lincoln, worked at Sears and loved the small townRead More feel. Yes it's changed, but so has everywhere else. If my kids were young enough to drag along I would move there in a heartbeat. If you don't like it anymore, don't visit. I don't really understand why anyone would write to a local media outlet and complain about the town. How insulting. I'll take SM over the Bay area (talk about expensive!) any day.
