Celebrate New Year's Eve in Santa Monica

Santa Monica's hotels, clubs and restaurants are hosting celebrations to ring in 2012 that include magic shows and delectable prix fixe dinners.

Last-minute partygoers look no further! We've rounded up Santa Monica's hottest New Year's Eve events, and found celebrations that will fit every price range from $10 to $89.

$10

Join Bar Pintxo at 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to celebrate the Spanish New Year! Each guest will receive 12 grapes, because from Spain to Brazil, gobbling 12 grapes at midnight is a favorite way to celebrate the New Year. When it is midnight in Spain, each time the clock chimes, all of the people put a grape in their mouth. Then at 9 p.m., the after-hours party begins: For $10, Pinxto will offer complimentary Manchego cheese and tomato tapas; party favors; entertainment; and a complimentary cava toast at midnight.

Masks and cocktail attire are required at Wokcano Santa Monica's Second Annual Black and White Masquerade Ball. The evening’s festivities will feature music by DJ Frankie who will spin top 40, hip-hop and house music; a laser light room; complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast and midnight.

Start 2012 off with good karma! Proceeds from this party will benefit Santa Monica-based nonprofit Thinking About Tomorrow. The historic will be transformed into a nightclub with two floors of live music, food and an open bar and a champagne toast at midnight.

$70

It will feel like you're in Times Square when you watch the famed ball drop from a 12-foot projector at Upper West.  A four-course prix fixe dinner will include diver scallop crudo, hunan glazed filet mignon and dark chocolate flan. Plus, the bar will also give away party favors, a champagne toast and a DJ will spin tracks after 11 p.m.

$75

The blue's club is featuring harmonica player Jimmy Z (Etta James calls him her “Hootchie Cootchie Man”) and the Z Tribe. There will be an open bar, party favors and champagne at midnight.

$85 MAGIC AND WINE AT THE SHORE HOTEL

Join David Minkin, world-renowned magician, who will headline the Shore Hotel's party. The hotel will host an early show, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with magic and a flight of four hand-selected wines from Rosenthal’s Malibu Estate. A late show, 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., will feature magic and champagne. Guests will sip bubbly and enjoy sweet treats poolside followed by a spectacular magic show.

$89

The New Year’s Eve fête at Lago will also feature an extensive selection of champagne and sparkling wines by the glass, $25 bottles of Pommery Pop Splits, a live DJ, dancing, midnight toast, and optional $15 overnight parking (with next-day pickup from 5-10 p.m.). The holiday menu includes: muschovy duck paté, roasted leg of lamb and local oyster.
