Expo Work to Impact Bundy Traffic

Closures on Bundy Drive and Exposition Boulevard in West LA to last through the spring. Olympic and Cloverfield intersection to close overnight starting Sunday.

Exposition Boulevard, west of Bundy Drive, will close intermittently now through May while Expo Light Rail construction crews relocate utilities in the area.

Additionally, southbound and northbound traffic lanes on Bundy Drive between Olympic Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue will occasionally be reduced to one traffic lane in each direction and left turns through the construction area will be restricted, according a construction notice from Expo.

Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

The utility work will include tearing out and replacing asphalt, building trenches installing new utilities. Heavy machinery will be used including, and the noise will be comparable to a garbage truck, according to the notice.

Additionally, the intersection of Olympic and Cloverfield boulevards will close nightly between Dec. 16 and Dec. 27 and Jan. 20 and Jan. 31. All lanes will remain open during the day, but the intersection will close overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for "falsework" construction.

The Expo line is being extended from its current western terminus in Culver City to downtown Santa Monica. When it opens in 2016, the light rail will connect Santa Monica by rail to Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Fernando Valley, South Bay and Long Beach.
